In the process of elevator operation, elevator wire rope plays a vital role, which is not only related to the service life of elevator, but also related to the personal safety of users.

The elevator steel wire rope is composed of strand, steel wire strand and rope core, which is wound on the rope core in a spiral shape with a single strand. Generally, 50~65# high-quality carbon steel or 60Si2Mn steel wire is selected. For the sake of safety, special or No. 1 steel wire is usually selected, so that the strength and hardness of the steel wire can be better guaranteed. The diameter binding spacing of the steel wire is between 0.3-1.3mm. The commonly used elevator traction steel wire rope has two types: Xilu type (X type) and Warrington type (W type). At present, the domestic elevators are basically Xilu Style 8 and 6 steel wire ropes and 8x (19), which are widely used throughout the country.

The elevator traction wheel also plays an important role in the rise and fall of the elevator. Generally, V-type and semi-circular U-type are used to block the two groove types. The effect of V-type groove on the rope is relatively harsh. Fiber core elevator rope is normally selected, while semi-circular groove elevator mostly uses semi (full) steel core elevator rope. All elevator steel wire ropes are oil immersed fiber rope cores. The rope core supports and fixes the orientation of the rope strand, improves the touch between the steel ropes, slows down the impact load, and acts as an oil reservoir for the long-term stable oil source of the elevator steel rope, so that the steel rope is stable and excellent without too much pause, and the experience of the passengers is relatively good.

The section of elevator steel wire rope is 1 + 9 + 9 per share, that is, the rope core is composed of 19 steel wires: 1 central steel wire, ф 1.2mm, 9 inner steel wires, ф 0.6mm, 9 outer steel wires, ф 1.05mm, the diameter of the outer steel wire is larger than the diameter of the inner steel wire, so it is also called the outer thick steel wire rope, which is composed of 19 steel wires wrapped from inside to outside. This kind of steel wire rope has its remarkable characteristics: first of all, the number of steel wires in each surface is the same, but the diameter is different, the outer layer is embedded in the inner notch, the twist distance of multi-layer steel wire is straight, the structure is tight and vigorous, and it is not easy to uncoil. Wear resistance is added to the outer thick steel wire, and the trekking flexibility of the inner thin steel wire is conducive to sliding each other during bending, and then trekking the flexibility and service life of the steel wire rope. Second, the steel wire rope has excellent fatigue resistance, good wear resistance between wires, added touch area and reduced touch stress.

In order to improve the strength of the elevator steel wire rope and extend the service life, the diameter of the elevator steel wire rope is generally selected according to the formula D / D ≥ 40, in which D is the diameter of the steel wire rope, which is not less than 8mm; D is the diameter of traction wheel; In wire rope type, K - safety factor of elevator wire rope; Broken tension of elevator wire rope; M - the selected magnification of elevator wire rope winding method, M = 1 for 1:1 winding method, M = 2 for 2:1 winding method; Q - additional load capacity of elevator; ∑W—Wj+Wg+Wp； Where wi is the dead weight of the lift car; WG is the weight of the steel wire rope between the car and the traction wheel when the car is on the bottom floor; WP is half of the tension load of the balance rope (when there is balance compensation equipment). For elevators with three or more traction wire ropes, kstatic = 12; For elevators with two traction wire ropes, kstatic = 16. Generally, the number of wire ropes for passengers, cargo and medical elevators shall not be less than 4, and the safety factor shall be 12; There shall be at least 2 sundry ladders with a safety factor of 10.
