How to take the safety factor of steel wire rope for hoisting
1. Selection of steel wire rope
The steel wire rope for hoisting can be 6x19 type and should be 6x37 type, because the latter is easier to bend. When in use, it can be single, double or multiple.
2. Steel wire rope splicing joint
Splicing is the most common way in hoisting operation. When the rope sleeves at both ends of the steel wire rope adopt splicing joints, the length of splicing joints shall not be less than 20 times of the direct length of the steel wire rope. In addition, there are conical wedge sleeve connection, aluminum alloy sleeve compression connection, rope clamp connection and so on.
3. Safety factor of steel wire rope
When lifting with hook and snap ring, the safety factor shall not be less than 6; When the heavy object is directly bound with steel wire rope and proper protective measures are taken for the edges and corners between the steel wire rope and the heavy object, 6 ~ 8 shall be taken; When lifting heavy, large or precise objects, in addition to taking proper protective measures, the safety factor shall be 10.
See Chapter 4.3 of jgj276-2012 technical code for safety of hoisting engineering in building construction for details.
