The core of the wire rope refers to the filling material in the central part of the wire rope, which can improve the strength, durability and other properties of the wire rope. According to different materials and uses, the core of the wire rope can be divided into the following types:

1.            Classification of steel wire rope core:

• Steel wire rope core (IWRC): Steel wire rope is used as the core material, which has high strength and bearing capacity. The steel wire rope core is characterized by tightness, firmness and good bending performance, and is suitable for heavy load and repeated work occasions, such as lifting, digging, traction, etc.

• Natural fiber core (FC): Using natural fibers (such as hemp, palm fiber) as the core material, it has advantages in softness and bending resistance. The natural fiber core is characterized by lightness, good impact resistance and shock absorption, but not suitable for wet and high humidity environments.

• Synthetic fiber core (SC): Using synthetic fiber (such as polyester, polypropylene) as the core material, it has high durability and corrosion resistance. The synthetic fiber core is characterized by lightness, good water and flex resistance, and is suitable for wet and corrosive environments.

• Steel core (SWR): The solid steel shaft is used as the core material, which has extremely high strength and durability, and is suitable for ultra-high loads and special environments.

2.            Classification of wire rope core materials:

• Alloy steel core: Alloy steel is used as the core material, which has high strength and wear resistance, and is suitable for occasions with high strength requirements, such as lifting and excavation.

• Carbon steel core: Carbon steel is used as the core material, which has good deformation and bending properties and is suitable for general lifting and traction occasions.

• Stainless steel core: Stainless steel is used as the core material, which has excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, and is suitable for corrosive environments and high temperature occasions.

3.            Other special wire rope cores:

• Fiber core: Using high-strength fiber materials (such as polymer fibers and aramid fibers) as the core material, it has the characteristics of light weight, high strength and corrosion resistance, and is suitable for the needs of special fields, such as aerospace and military equipment.

• Plastic-wrapped core: The steel wire core is covered with plastic, which has the effect of anti-corrosion and weight reduction, and is suitable for wet and corrosive environments.
