What are the advantages of steel cored wire rope?

Steel wire rope is a spiral steel tow that twists the steel wires with mechanical properties and geometric dimensions meeting the requirements together according to certain rules. The steel wire rope is composed of steel wire, rope core and grease. Steel wire rope is a kind of rope which is first twisted into strands by multi-layer steel wires, and then twisted into a spiral shape by a certain number of strands with the rope core as the center. It is widely used in all walks of life because of its high strength, light weight, stable work, not easy to break the whole root suddenly and reliable work.

The wire rope core plays a supporting role in the whole operation of the wire rope to achieve a stable cross-sectional structure. Steel wire rope is divided into hemp core and steel core according to rope core.

Hemp core steel wire rope is soft and has good bending performance. When the steel wire rope is subjected to collision and impact load in work, the fiber core can play a buffering role. The natural fiber core stores much oil. When the steel wire rope is working, there is enough lubrication inside and can slow down the corrosion of the steel wire.

The steel core wire rope is composed of one strand wire rope in the middle, which is represented by the letter IWS or IWR.

Rope strand: each small rope strand twisted by steel wire. The same diameter and structure of steel wire rope, the number of strands is more, the fatigue strength is higher.

The metal core steel wire rope has the following characteristics: large breaking force, extrusion resistance and high temperature resistance.

The main feature of steel cored wire rope is that the tensile force is stronger than that of hemp cored wire rope. Compared with the wire rope with the same structure, the metal density coefficient is increased by 17%. The elongation of steel wire rope is low, the structural stability is high, and the average service life can be 1.2-1.3 times higher than that of hemp core.

Another feature of steel core wire rope is wear resistance, high temperature resistance and extrusion resistance. Because of wear resistance and compression resistance, steel core wire rope is generally used on cranes or hoists. In terms of high temperature resistance, steel core rope is higher than hemp core steel wire rope, so steel core steel wire rope is generally selected in some high temperature occasions.
