Do you know which aspects you should pay attention to when buying wire ropes?
In modern practical life, wire ropes are mostly used in material handling machinery for lifting, traction, tensioning and bearing. The steel wire rope has high strength, light weight, stable operation, not easy to break suddenly and reliable operation. Do you know what aspects should be paid attention to when buying wire ropes?
1. First of all, from the packaging point of view, the quality of the wire rope is mainly reflected in the packaging. After the wire rope arrives, the wire rope is deformed, broken or falling apart, causing the wire rope to roll randomly on the rope, squeezing, scratching or serious rust without moisture-proof measures. affect users. However, strictly speaking, it does not stop there. If the packaging does not meet the standards or contract provisions, the order contract does not match the actual delivery, etc., all belong to the packaging inspection. The main reasons for the above-mentioned quality are: the manufacturer did not consider the strength when designing the rope; the packaging standard and contract standard were not packaged; the transportation department did not load and unload according to the operating procedures; Article 78 of Chapter VII of the Regulations stipulates that those who violate one of the regulations during the acceptance inspection must be held accountable.
2. Twisting defects, the so-called twisting defects, in a broad sense, that is, all kinds of defects that appear in the twisting process of the steel wire rope (referring to the twisted strands or ropes) that do not meet the quality requirements of the twisting quality requirements in the wire rope standard. These defects are collectively referred to as twisting defects, including: uneven twisting tension, strand slack and core displacement, serious uneven tensioning of ropes, uneven tensioning of ropes, bulging out of uneven tension, uneven tension and bulging, and multiple strands. There are various degrees of slack bulging, multi-layer non-rotating wire rope outer strands slack bulging, severe hemp core displacement, strands are broken and tied with iron wires, resulting in slack and confusion of strands, a serious slack and confusion case, a paragraph There is no hemp core in the rope, serious wire skipping, serious uneven lay length, etc. . .
3. Surface damage, scratches such as crushing, bumping, hanging, scratching or nailing on the wire rope or steel wire surface due to contact with the outside are collectively referred to as surface damage. Plastic deformation caused by molds or roll molds does not belong to the category of surface damage. In the process of inspection, if any of the following situations are found, the responsibility shall be investigated according to the standard.
4. Surface rust (floating rust), oxidation on the surface of the wire rope (partial or overall). Causes of rust (floating rust) on the surface of the new wire rope:
First, acid, alkali, salt and other substances remain on the surface of the steel wire during production;
second, the steel rope grease contains too much acid, alkali or moisture;
third, the oiling of the steel wire rope
is not good; The steel wire rope has to be transported by long-distance voyage) caused by the impregnation of harmful gas, etc.
Slight floating rust on new ropes (especially steel wire ropes required by users without oil) is allowed, but those who still have rust spots after rubbing or have caused pits and pockmarks should be held accountable to the manufacturer.
5. Galvanizing defects, cracking, falling off, zinc accumulation, zinc scarring and exposed steel on the surface of galvanized steel wire rope are all galvanizing defects.
The main reasons for galvanizing defects are that the oil stain or oxide scale on the surface of galvanized steel wire is not washed off, and the galvanizing process is not strictly controlled, such as the purity of zinc liquid, temperature, equipment running speed and smoothness, and improper treatment of zinc slag.
6. Poor oiling, poor oiling means that the impregnating agent and lubricant of the steel wire or hemp core on the surface of the wire rope are lacking and uneven.
The wire rope standard stipulates: "Unless otherwise required by the user, the surface of the wire rope should not have any places that are not coated with lubricant." This is also a measure to improve the quality of the wire rope.
Generally, there are two kinds of wire rope oils used by wire rope manufacturers: one is (impregnating agent) hemp core grease, and the other is external coating (surface grease).
The main reasons for poor oiling are: First, the quality of domestic oil is not good at present, but the method of dipping oil is improper.
For example, when the wire rope passes through the heating oil tank when the rope is twisted, the parking time is long, the oil temperature is too high, the grease is evaporated or the oil is leaked, etc., which will cause poor oiling. If this phenomenon is found, measures should be taken to protect it.
7. Exposed
hemp core The phenomenon that the hemp core is extruded from the whole length of the wire rope or the gap between the partial strands is called the hemp core exposed.
The reasons for the exposed hemp cores are: uneven thickness of the hemp cores, poor joints of the hemp cores causing local enlargement or disconnection, and uneven twisting of the rope strands.
Generally, fiber core (hemp core) steel wire ropes should have tiny gaps between the gaps of the full length of the wire rope under normal circumstances, or a small amount of hemp flocs flying out of the gaps is a normal phenomenon, but because the joints are too thick, or the joints are too thick If it is disconnected and affects the use of the wire rope, a claim should be filed with the manufacturer.
8. Loose strands After the end of the
wire rope is loosened and cut off, the strands or the wires in the strands (all or part) are loosened and cannot be formed.
The looseness of wire rope strands is mainly caused by improper handling of pre-deformation and post-deformation during manufacturing.
9. Poor joints The steel wires in the wire
rope are partially oversized due to improper joint methods, incorrect joint centers or poor welding.
The main reason for poor joints is due to poor welding of steel wires during wire drawing, strand twisting or rope closing. Seriously, some wire rope manufacturers have poor
joints that sometimes cause the diameter of the strands to increase, sometimes forcing the adjacent steel wires to dislocate, and the welding head is thick and protruding. , making the surface of the strand unsmooth. According to the standard, the general thin wire rope of 18mm shall not exceed 4 places within 1000 meters, and the important purpose wire rope or fixed-length wire rope is not allowed.
10. Strand relaxation (twisting twist)
The phenomenon of protrusion or collapse of individual strands in the wire rope, which often occurs at the same time as the loose strands.
The reasons for these defects are: uneven thickness of the hemp core, incorrect position of the pressing tile, improper control of the pre-deformation fixture, inconsistent bending depth of each strand or uneven operation of the equipment.
This phenomenon is not allowed, but if it appears at the end of the wire rope and does not affect the length of the order, it can be dealt with through negotiation. If it has affected the use, a claim should be filed.
